Foundation Awards Scholarship

Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club Awards their first $4000.00 scholarship to Andrew Zabel.

The Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club Foundation is proud to announce they have awarded our club’s scholarship to Andrew Zabel.

Andrew was a 2014 graduate from Elk Mound High School and selected the University of Stevens Point to continue his education as a Fishery Biologist.  While still in high school he volunteered assisting Trout Unlimited with their cleanup of a nature reserve and their cleanup project at Elk Creek.  His summer employment was working part time with Wisconsin DNR maintaining fences, fyke netting, lake shocking, moving angler paths along trout streams and stream stocking.  During this winter on weekends and breaks Andrew worked at Lake Eau Claire with their winter creeling, scale aging and data collection.

Andrew told the foundation he truly enjoys working with Wisconsin DNR and is one hundred percent committed to pursuing a career in fisheries. Andrew’s father Bill Zabel is a Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club member and shoots Tuesday nights on the Reimer Construction Team.

Congratulations Andrew!
